Olympics: Gymnastics Men Team Final

On Men's qualification day, the top two countries China and Japan has disastrous results and team U.S.A was first.

So far so good.

Then in the team final one fall and it just started causing bad momentum for the team. First Sam fell on exercise. Then two falls on pommel horse, and a mess up on vault, U.S finished in 5th. The question was what happened to them after day one? Jonathon Horton then stated how they're young, but they'll get there.

Olympics Qualification for Women's Gymnastics & Two Per Country Rule

I won't deny it I'm a big fan of gymnastics, I used to do it when I was little but too many threatening injuries and I had to stop.

I love to watch the Olympics, the only sport I watch during the Olympics is gymnastics.

The Women's Gymnastics team of the U.S.A. finished first in qualification and then something happened that the Americans didn't like and were demanding rule changes. The same happens every year in the Olympics, something happens and then because of the rules they automatically demand a rule change. So what happened that caused this sudden outcry from Americans was simple.

The International Federation of Gymnastics (FIG) has a rule stating that only two gymnast per country can compete in Event finals and in the All-Around. 2011 World Champion Jordyn Wieber of the U.S. missed out due to mistakes on balance beam during qualification, and deductions from stepping our of bounds on floor exercise. Her other two teammates Gabby Douglas and Aly Raisman performed their routines a little more consistent and scored higher thereby winning their opportunity to compete in the All-Around leaving the 2011 World All-Around Champion unable to compete.

Media was then going crazy, most in particular the Americans demanding for Wieber to compete and a rule change. Both sides were giving arguments, on this. Those who were fans of Wieber were demanding rule changes and said for the World champion to compete. Those who understand rules are rules also acknowledged that just because she's the World Champion it doesn't mean she deserves any other special treatment. Rules are rules. Let's put this scenario into retrospective. Two students attending the same school bring a weapon to school, yet one of the students is an honor roll student and has not had any previous disciplinary problems. Should the honor roll student not get into any trouble just because said student has not

Wieber's coach John Geddert then gave an interview to the media. Some of the things her coach said to media was very unprofessional especially since it's the middle of a competition. Geddert expressed how he was devastated for her because she worked her whole life for this moment. Geddert also spoke about how the judges didn't give her a high enough scores on her routines. Then expressed that some of the rules the FIG have are plain ridiculous. He should be lucky the judges don't take it out on the team and decide to deduct more out of their scores in the team final. I happen to find it unprofessional.

Let's not forget that Geddert is the head coach for the team, and is clearly playing favoritism because Jordyn is his gymnast that he trained since she was a kid. If he's going to play favorites then he shouldn't be the head coach. If I was Aly Raisman's coach I would have been furious with him for practically stating that the other gymnast who scored better didn't deserve it. Geddert's interview made it sound like the other girls hadn't worked hard to get to this point in their career. He sounds like he's saying Aly doesn't deserve to be in the All-Around. Let's say there was 3 per country rule and another teammate had pushed Jordyn out, would he be Interview can be read here.

Let's put something else into prospective that also puzzled those who understand the rules; What if Aly messed up on floor and didn't make it into the All-Around, instead it was Jordyn and Gabby, would Geddert have gone to media demanding a rule change? At the 2011 World Championship's when Aly and Jordyn made the All-Around and Gabby Douglas was left out per the two per country rule, I didn't see Geddert going to media demanding a rule change. It's clearly a case of favoritism.

Now the rule of where only two gymnast per country can compete. That rule has been enforced since 2001. The rule was put into effect from the old days when Russia won everything, and was also put into effect after the 2000 Sydney Olympics when Romania won all of the medals in the All-Around. In fact, the U.S. is one of the countries who pushed for that rule when gymnast were left off the podium.

Geddert and Wieber had been in this sport for quite sometime, they knew the rules from the beginning. Geddert then wants a rule change just because his gymnast is the World Champion? The U.S. is not the only country that had gymnast left off the podium, and now because their World Champion was left off the podium they want the rule that they also pushed for changed?

Many sports announcers think there is a curse with the World Champions the year before the Olympics. Let's look back. In 2003 Russia's Svetlana Khorkina was the All-Around champion, and the favorite to win gold in the 2004 Sydney Olympics.

But then U.S.A's Carly Patterson who won silver in the All-Around won the All-Around title at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

In 2007, U.S.A Shawn Johnson was the National Champion and the 2007 World All-Around Champion and the favorite to win the All-Around title at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

But the U.S. Three time National Champion Nastia Liukin won the All-Around title at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The only gymnast that has ever won the World All-Around Title and won the Olympic title the year after that was Lilla Podkopayeva, who won the World All-Around title in 1995 and the All-Around at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare

So, I really didn't enjoy reading Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments.  But my friends who recommended me to read Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments told me I may like her other series Infernal Devices better, so I decided to check out.

Clockwork Angel (Infernal Devices Book 1):

Magic is dangerous--but love is more dangerous still. When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos. Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What's more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own. Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself fascinated by--and torn between--two best friends: James, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm's length...everyone, that is, but Tessa. As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world...and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.

Overall this series is really good, in fact just to clarify things, I like this trilogy much better than The Mortal Instruments. The first three books of the Mortal instruments were okay, and she should have left them as a trilogy, in just my opinion. This prequel is dark but I love it! The writing in third person really brings out the action of the novels, making you never wanting to put the book down. From what I read on the media Clare is planning another spin-off of this series and frankly I think she needs to leave it.

The New Nora Roberts Presenting Brooke Moss!

Today I am very pleased to have on my blog, one of my very nice Contemporary Romance author, and a very good talented friend of mine, please welcome Brooke Moss

Brooke Moss is the name, contemporary romance, fantasy YA, and women's fiction are the game. Brooke writes complex, character-driven stories about kismet, reunited lovers, first love, and the kind of romance that we should all have the chance at finding. She prefers her stories laced with some humor just for fun, and enough drama to keep her readers flipping the pages, and begging for more! When Brooke isn't spinning tales, she spends her time drawing/cartooning, reading, watching movies then comparing them to books, and, of course, wrangling four kids, one hubby she lovingly refers to as her "nerd", and attempting to conquer the Mount Everest of laundry that is the bane of her existence.

Brooke Moss

Interview

When did you know you wanted to be a writer as your career?
I knew I wanted to be an author when I was as young as 9 or 10. I used to cut out pictures of people from my mother's JC Penny's catalogues, glue them onto paper, and then name each member of the "family". Then once the family was complete, I would write stories about them. It's safe to say I was a very strange and dramatic child. But it evolved into a great career!

When did you start writing?
I started writing with the intent of getting published (I wrote just for myself and my friends) when I was about 30-31 years old.

What made you decide to publish with independent publishers?
My books are a hard sell. They don't often fit into the mold that many traditional publishers expect their books to fit into. My books are multifaceted. They have romance, but along with that, there are stronger themes tied in. And I always have a large, intricate cast of characters. I've been given more attention, and what feels like a fairer chance by indie publishers. They're more willing to read my work than the bigger publishers are. Unfortunately for them, the indie publishers have been able to see the potential.

In your debut novel The "What-If" Guy, is it similar to any experiences you have had?
Yes! Tons....oh, I've crashed on my ice skates and landed on a guy's crotch the same way Autumn did, and I've spilt hot gravy on a man as well. I've very clumsy. It's pathetic. I always tend to draw from my own self deprecating humor and personality when I create a character. None of my heroines are bursting with confidence. I want my characters to be relatable to the average woman.

What inspired you to write The "What-If" Guy?
I wanted to write about my own personal theory that every woman--whether she is in a relationship or not, happy or not--has a "what if" guy she wonders about from time to time. I wanted to explore the notion that a single woman finds her what if guy, and winds up with a second chance. I also wanted to set a story in my hometown of Fairfield, Washington. That was really fun.

What was your inspiration for The Carny, which by the way, I absolutely loved, it is so much more brilliant than the recent things Nora Roberts wrote.
Thanks! From your lips to God's ears....I hope the rest of the world loved it as much as you. I actually got the original idea for The Carny when I had a really strange dream about an extremely handsome carny. In the dream, I was a teenager again, and the scene between Charlotte and Vincent when they were kids...well, that was the dream. I sat down to write one day...and it just unfolded right in front of me.

In the Carny, what made you write about mixed relationships? I am asking from experience, I dealt with that before lord it was awful.
I was inspired to write The Carny because my brother and his wife are an interracial couple, and have been married for 20 years. Though they aren't always mistreated for their relationship, subtle racism is always present in their lives. I wanted to explore that problem in small town America, and *hopefully* encourage more people to examine what they're saying, how they're saying it, and whether or not it is an appropriate way to view others any more.

Any new projects you've been working on or any new releases you have coming out soon?
I am currently trying to sell my first fantasy YA, which is the first in a trilogy. I'm really proud of it, and I hope that a publisher feels the same way. I also have a romantic women's fiction coming out from Entangled Publishing, entitled "Keeping Secrets in Seattle". I don't currently have a release date, as it has been pushed back to late fall or early winter of 2012. I wish I had more details for everyone! Write to Entangled and tell them to help me get this book out soon! :)

Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?

Never stop perfecting your craft...and learn how to take critique. The day you start considering yourself "good enough" to stop investing in conferences or workshops is the day you need to quit and become a podiatrist. Real writers never stop learning, and never stop working at becoming better. Ever. And real writers know how to open themselves up to critique and comments. Good or bad. When another author offers you solicited advice on how to make your book better, LISTEN. There's nothing more important, or beneficial, than an awesome critique partner.

I absolutely lover Brooke's novels! In my opinion, they are ten times better than Nora Roberts, and I grew up reading Danielle Steele and Nora Roberts. What I love about The "What-If" Guy is that it has so many humorous situations! I especially love Autumn how clumsy she is. I also loved The Carny is the dramatic atmosphere the novel takes place. Brooke's writing is absolute beautiful work and I highly recommend people read her novels they are so beautiful. If you ever get the opportunity to read her novels, they are so enjoyable and beautifully written, they are books you can't put down.

The "What-If" Guy
What would you do if your "what if" guy showed up at the lowest point of your life?

(Autumn Cole clocked hers with an encyclopedia.)

After losing her job at a swanky Seattle art gallery and finding out her father has been hospitalized, single mother Autumn Cole reluctantly returns to her tiny hometown of Fairfield, Washington, to put the pieces of her life back together.

Her disgruntled twelve-year old son isn't thrilled about going from hip to hick, but Autumn's got it worse. She resumes her role as the daughter of the town drunk, promptly facing a crisis with her father that's been decades in the making.

Running into Henry Tobler, and nearly breaking his nose, is almost more than she can handle, but can rediscovering love-and herself-with her "what if" guy teach Autumn to forgive before it's too late?

Blurb

Elliott shifted his weight between feet. “I take it you guys know each other?”

I started. I’d forgotten about Elliott. I put my arm around him and tried to smile. “Yup. El, this is Henry…er, Mr. Tolber."

Elliott looked around self-consciously. “Geez, Mom, chill. I already know this is Mr. Tobler.”

“Of course you do. Sorry. I just… He’s um…,"

Henry stood frozen in place, staring at me as if I were a ghost.

I trembled, struggling to regain composure. “He’s an old friend.”

Elliott squinted at me for a few beats, then turned to Henry. “I’m sorry. She’s… uh, wired this morning. Where do you want me to sit?”

Henry’s mouth remained set in a line. “There’s an open seat by the window. Go ahead and grab a textbook off of my desk.”

“Okay. Mom, you can go.” Elliott bumped my toe with his.

I waved at him and backed toward the door. “All right. Have a good day… And you,” I said to Henry, “have a good, um, class.”

“Yes.” Henry nodded stiffly.

I misjudged and backed into a bookshelf, ramming my butt into a sharp corner. A shock wave of pain shot through my right cheek, and several encyclopedias tumbled onto the floor.

The kids laughed. Elliott sat at his desk, then covered his face with his hands.

“I’m so sorry.” I bent to pick up the books, hot tears of embarrassment

pricking my eyes.

Henry stepped closer and reached for one of the encyclopedias. “Here, just let me—”
“No, I’ve got—”

I stood, bringing an armload of the thick books up as I did. Whack. The books collided with Henry’ nose. Bright-red blood instantly flooded all over the “G” encyclopedia and the sleeve of my shirt.

“Argh.” He grabbed for the box of tissues on his desk, leaving a trail of blood droplets on the floor.

The Carny
At a town fair on the coast of Oregon, handsome Native American carny, Vincent Youngblood, bestows an unforgettable kiss on shy, awkward teenager, Charlotte Davenport. Then he disappears without another word, leaving her baffled and enamored.

Ten years later, Charlotte is still living in the small fishing town of Astoria, while being trained to--reluctantly--take over for her philandering hotelier father when he retires. After all, who else will do it? Her two perfect sisters are busy being married to their flawless husbands and having cookie cutter children, while Charlotte remains single, childless, and every bit as mousy as she was a decade ago.

As Charlotte struggles to climb out from underneath her judgmental parents thumb, the carnival rolls back into town, and Charlotte finds herself face to face with Vin again. He's back to run his father's carnival, walking away from a promising career in medicine he started in Chicago. Will her biased and judgmental family accept her relationship with a man who is not only a Native American, but works as a carny for a living? And what unsavory secrets bind the well-educated and seemingly superlative Vin to that ramshackle carnival?

After all, you can’t judge a carny by its cover.

Blurb

The heat on my face increased. “Charlotte Davenport.” I noticed that he’d not ended the contact between our two hands yet. “Yours?”

“Vin. Vincent Youngblood.”

I pointed to his shirt. “Of Young’s Blood Enterprises?”

The corner of his mouth tugged up, and he took a step closer to me. The people in line craned their necks to see what the holdup was. “That’s the one. And you’re of the Davenports of the Astoria Resort?”

I nodded. Sunlight positively radiated off of his skin, and I suddenly felt drunk.

He glanced up at Regina, who was watching with a disapproving scowl. She preferred to be the center of all male attention. “We should give your rotten friend something to really talk about.”

“She’s not all rotten.”

Vin laughed softly. “Yeah, she is. Why do you hang out with someone like that?”

I bit my lip. “She doesn’t do it all the time.”

One of his hands rested on my arm, closing the space between the two of us. “You deserve better friends.”

I didn’t respond. I just stared up at those two shining eyes that were reflecting my own face back at me. His face was coming closer to mine. My knees knocked together, and I wavered in my spot before his other hand came up to anchor my other arm.

“I think I should kiss you.” He raised his eyebrows. “To really drive the point home.”

His lips touched mine before I could agree with him. They were soft and full, and tasted faintly of the soda pop he’d been drinking. The spin cycle in my stomach came to a sudden and abrupt halt, as did all activity of my internal organs.

Everything froze. The music on the loudspeakers faded away, and the crowd around us melted like crayons, blurring into an undecipherable picture. His mouth parted my lips tentatively, and his tongue brushed the inside of my upper lip, sending a shock wave of catastrophic earthquake proportions up my spine. Every hair on my body stood up and the ground swayed under our feet.

When we pulled apart, both of our eyes opened back up sluggishly, as if we’d both been dreaming. I realized that neither one of us was breathing.

Wicked Lovely Series by Melissa Marr

This is one of my absolute favorite series and it inspired me to write my own series about one of my favorite trends!

Rule #3: Don't stare at invisible faeries.Aislinn has always seen faeries. Powerful and dangerous, they walk hidden in the mortal world. Aislinn fears their cruelty - especially if they learn of her Sight - and wishes she were as blind to their presence as other teens.

Rule #2: Don't speak to invisible faeries. Now faeries are stalking her. One of them, Keenan, who is equal parts terrifying and alluring, is trying to talk to her, asking questions Aislinn is afraid to answer.

Rule #1: Don't ever attract their attention. But it's too late. Keenan is the Summer King, who has sought his queen for nine centuries. Without her, summer itself will perish. He is determined that Aislinn will become the Summer Queen at any cost — regardless of her plans or desires.Suddenly none of the rules that have kept Aislinn safe are working anymore, and everything is on the line: her freedom; her best friend, Seth; her life; everything.

This is one of my favorite novel series about fairies. I loved the concept of it, it was dark, and had romance. I'll admit the for the first half of the book it takes a while to get into the story because it was a bit dull, but when you get to book two, all the action and adventure begins to unravel! I could not put them down as I continued to read through the entire series! It's so full of excitement! This series also inspired me to write my own book series about fairies (not that I'm sure it will ever see the light of day in a bookstore, but who knows) I really enjoyed this series, for those who have said you're tired of reading about fairies, I am telling you should give this series a shot before turning it down. It's an awesome series. If you want to read something paranormal, besides the strong romantic element that is floating about now and days, this is the series for you.

Dream Catcher Series by Lisa McMann

This is one another one of my favorite book series I have read and I hope people get the chance to read this book series because I find it remarkable, and something different!

Wake (Book 1)

For seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people's dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody-notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie's seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime.
She can't tell anybody about what she does -- they'd never believe her, or worse, they'd think she's a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn't want and can't control.
Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone else's twisted psyche. She is a participant....

Fade (Book 2)

For Janie and Cabel, real life is getting tougher than the dreams. They're just trying to carve out a little (secret) time together, but no such luck.
Disturbing things are happening at Fieldridge High, yet nobody's talking. When Janie taps into a classmate's violent nightmares, the case finally breaks open -- but nothing goes as planned. Not even close. Janie's in way over her head, and Cabe's shocking behavior has grave consequences for them both.
Worse yet, Janie learns the truth about herself and her ability -- and it's bleak. Seriously, brutally bleak. Not only is her fate as a dream catcher sealed, but what's to come is way darker than she'd feared....

Gone (Book 3)

Janie thought she knew what her future held. And she thought she'd made her peace with it. But she can't handle dragging Cabel down with her.
She knows he will stay with her, despite what she sees in his dreams. He's amazing. And she's a train wreck. Janie sees only one way to give him the life he deserves--she has to disappear. And it's going to kill them both.
Then a stranger enters her life--and everything unravels. The future Janie once faced now has an ominous twist, and her choices are more dire than she'd ever thought possible. She alone must decide between the lesser of two evils. And time is running out...

I really enjoyed reading this book trilogy, it was something new, and you know the saying, "Don't judge a book by it's cover" well that happened to me. I was judging this book based on it's cover, I was just staring at it in the bookstore until I decided to just take it home and read. I started to read it and I fell absolutely in love with it! It was so unique compared to all the vampire books that were taking up space. This was something I got a joy reading. A teenage girl who's a dream catcher, it was so interesting! I strongly urge people to read this book series! It's amazing!

Wolves of Mercy Falls Trilogy by Maggie Stiefvater

This is one of my favorite book series ever in the world to read. I have always had an obsession about wolves, and I love this series and recommend people to read it.

Shiver Book 1
The dark blonde haired and brown eyed Grace has always watched and obsessed over the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed grey-furred wolf —her wolf— has a chilling presence she cannot seem to live without since her attack by the wolves six years ago meant her meeting with her wolf. Since the incident, something happened between the two, a connection the grew every winter when the wolf would come watch Grace as she settle in her yard; often reading or doing homework and watching him back all day.Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, inside frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl, the girl he saved, the one who would change him in the near future. In summer, he gains a few precious months of being human; of having an opportunity to talk to the girl he saved, but not having the courage to do it until the cold makes him shift back again. However, incidents like being shot and cared for by Grace can change a lot.Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. Is it her wolf? It has to be. Since he was shot and suddenly shifted, Grace hides Sam in her house and eventually love comes, and Sam becomes Grace's boyfriend. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human— or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.

This book series is something I liked. I liked the originality Maggie brought to wolves. I found myself skimming some pages because they tend to get overly descriptive for example five pages on making quiche, but I liked this particular series up until I read the last book. It was so depressing I just wanted to curl up with a bottle of wine and cry. In this book you can really feel the love Sam and Grace have for each other and I love how it was written in two point of views which helps to understand their feelings more. The last book in the trilogy was the worst, and it is not a usual way for an author to end a book series it was too depressing. If it's labeled paranormal romance, it has a funny way of showing it by the way she ended the series. She literally tortured these poor characters to the end! Ugh I was so frustrated let alone, when Forever ended on a such a huge cliffhanger which is absolutely no way to end a book series.

House of Night Series by P.C. & Kristen Cast

So I wanted to do another blog post about my favorite books and talk about it. This is a very good favorite of mine called House of Night Series by writing mother-daughter pairing PC and Kristen Cast.

Marked
The House of Night series is set in a world very much like our own, except in 16-year-old Zoey Redbird's world, vampyres have always existed.  In this first book in the series, Zoey enters the House of Night, a school where, after having undergone the Change, she will train to become an adult vampire -- that is, if she makes it through the Change.  Not all of those who are chosen do.  It's tough to begin a new life, away from her parents and friends, and on top of that, Zoey finds she is no average fledgling.  She has been Marked as special by the vampyre Goddess, Nyx.  But she is not the only fledgling at the House of Night with special powers.  When she discovers that the leader of the Dark Daughters, the school's most elite club, is misusing her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look deep within herself for the courage to embrace her destiny--with a little help from her new vampyre friends

Now as I have mentioned earlier, this is one of my favorite book series. I really liked it in particular because it didn't have the boring love sequence Twilight had. This book series had romance but it also had action and adventure. It's alike a spin of traditional vampires, with a vampire goddess and the vampires go to a finishing school to learn to control their powers. It's like vampires with a cross of Harry Potter.  What I liked is how it takes place in Oklahoma and how the vampire Goddess marks the ones who are vampires, it's something refreshing in terms of vampires.

BUT this post is also about how dangerous it is to write a book series during a trend. For example, the first six books in the series was fine, but now that the Twilight franchise has moved past it, readers have lost interest in vampires. Now because this book is under a contract with St. Martins for twelve books it really shows its dangerous about writing a long series based on a trend. Readers who have been very found of this particular series lost interest because when you read the whole series straight, the same thing happens every time, the main characters try to stop the villain and the villain escapes. The authors could have compressed this whole series into six books, maybe even four, the would have been longer, but the readers wouldn't have lost interest because now the people who were such avid fans of the vampire trend have moved onto the post-apocalyptic trend (which is more interesting because the ideas the authors come up with is so creative). Reading the other books in the series the story has started to just keep repeating, I think the series should have been wrapped up into six books.

If you have a chance, I suggest you give this series a chance, I read it myself and found it very enjoyable, but it now it's just not as interesting anymore, because it's so long.

Vampire Kisses by Ellen Schreiber

This is one of my favorite vampire book series of all time!

Vampire Kisses

The mansion on top of Benson Hill has been empty and boarded up for years. But a new family has moved in. A family that never ventures out during the day. Who are these creepy people -- especially the handsome, dark, and elusive Alexander Sterling? Or rather, what are they? Could the town gossip actually be true? Are they vampires?Raven, who secretly covets a vampire kiss, both at the risk of her own mortality and Alexander's loving trust, is dying to uncover the truth.

I absolutely adore this series! In all honesty, I like this book series much better than Twilight. The main character in Twilight, Bella, was just so boring, and uninteresting. What I in particular liked about Twilight is how Meyer brought originality to vampires; no fangs, gorgeous, sparkling skin, and eyes that changed color when they drank blood. What I liked about this particular series is that it gives a spin to the classic vampire story. It's where the town's weird girl, who everyone thought was a freak because she's goth and everyone else is the town is normal; preps, jocks, etc., she dreams about dating and becoming a vampire. So imagine what the main character is like when the town suspects he's a vampire Alexander was an amazing lover to his human girlfriend. He treated her with so much respect and treated her like a queen. I know people are a bit tired of the crazy vampire craze, but I  highly recommend reading this series, particularly if you read Twilight and thought it was just okay. This series is more than just the typical vampire love story, it has action and adventure, and is an amazing series to read and will give you a great laugh at how amazing the characters are!

The Immortals Series by Alyson Noel

Time for me to review my favorite series of all time. I have read this whole series in the past, but I wanted to write a post about it now that I have this blog.

Evermore (Book 1)
Since a horrible accident claimed the lives of her family, sixteen-year-old Ever can see auras, hear people’s thoughts, and know a person’s life story by touch.   Going out of her way to shield herself from human contact to suppress her abilities has branded her as a freak at her new high school—but everything changes when she meets Damen Auguste . .
Ever sees Damen and feels an instant recognition.  He is gorgeous, exotic and wealthy, and he holds many secrets.  Damen is able to make things appear and disappear, he always seems to know what she’s thinking—and he’s the only one who can silence the noise and the random energy in her head.  She doesn’t know who he really is—or what he is.  Damen equal parts light and darkness, and he belongs to an enchanted new world where no one ever dies.

I read this series during the vampire trend, and read them when they were first released. I got so tired of reading the same thing over and over again that I decided to read this series. Ever is the only one in her family that survived a car crash and now has to live with her sister. Ever meets Damen who is very mysterious, and it turns out Damen is an immortal and he has been trying to be with Ever. It turns out Damen was the one who make Ever immortal so that she didn't die with her family.

I found it so addicting. I read it when I was in high school. I like how the people were immortal but not vampires, they became immortal by drinking an elixir. What I also liked about it was that it had a addicting plot, some of the choices Ever made I wanted to punch her. I was very happy that she and Damon ended up together. It has the same element most authors write immortality verses mortality, but this is something different and enjoyable to the average person who wants to read a paranormal romance, but with it not being vampires. Hope you enjoy this series as much as I did over the years.

Life & Death of Lily Drake by T. Michelle Nelson

For Lily Drake, slaying vampires is easy...Dating them is the hard part. Deciding between pizza and Chinese take-out will no longer be one of the hard decisions facing Lily Drake once she is emerged into vampire society. Humanity or immortality? That doesn't hold a candle against this question - which of the two handsome vampire cousins?
The Life and Death of Lily Drake is not your typical vampire love story. It’s a tale about the humorous mistakes a woman makes simply trying to survive not only life, but the dating scene. How will Lily manage working full-time, taking care of her young son and fighting the undead at every turn?
Lily will have to figure it out, but who better to save the world than a mom? Lily Drake is your everyday hard-working single mom…until a gorgeous vampire shows up on her front door who she mistakenly assumes is her blind date for the evening. As one crazy scenario after another unfolds, Lily finds herself falling in love with two vampires, slaying the evil ones, and being prophesied as the savior of the entire undead race.

I thought I gave up on the subject of vampires thanks to the Twilight series. But I received my copy of the this book and gave it a try. Holy crap, it's amazing. This is something different for adult paranormal fiction if the person likes to read about vampires. I liked that it wasn't a YA vampire book.  You have no idea how tired I was of reading about the ditsy blond walking into a forest and falling in love with the vampire; too over done.

This was such a refreshing new take on vampire books, it's interesting, it's different, and will give you a good read!
