Okay now here's my opinion on the whole series, this is a long explanation and remember every reader has their own opinion on books they read. First off, what I liked about the series in the vampire traits was the originality Meyer brought to the vampires. How they didn't have fangs, when they hadn't feed in a while their eyes would turn black they had venom in their teeth that would transform them into a vampire within forty eight hours, they never sleep, how stakes, garlic, and sleeping in coffins didn't affect them. What I didn't like was how they sparkled in the sun. But the writing was so poor. In book one, Meyer makes the main character Bella so incredibly shallow with the obsessiveness over Edward's looks. Bella is just an absolute damsel in distress, who falls down all the time.
I found Bella to be the most boring person in the whole series, and I think it's mostly because Bella is based on Meyer who wrote Twilight on the ball. When I read the agent who represented this book interview on why she picked it up, she said the characters were captivating, excuse me but what is captivating about a girl who falls down all the time and is an absolute damsel in distress being controlled by her boyfriend? How on earth did this become a bestseller, just how? Bella, who is the main protagonist of this whole book series she is just annoying, dull, and makes the dumbest choices. Like in Eclipse how she kept toying around with Jacob and Edward, and She has no character whatsoever. She's just dull. Edward is suppose to be this good looking guy and he falls for a damsel in distress, good gosh. Then how Edward stalks Bella the whole time, he should have been burned. The romance between her and Edward was dull too, there wasn't a spark you get when reading romance novels. Edward's behavior is just creepy.
My favorite character in the whole series was Jacob. I loved how he was so full of snark! I loved his personality and how he became a leader in Breaking Dawn, that kind of characteristic about a person. I especially liked when he imprinted on Renesmee, Jacob deserved happiness, I was crying because he's my favorite character and I wanted him to be happy. I really liked Paul as well, I loved his anger. I liked how Meyer put where the wolves would get angry and it could cause them to phase, very different from the traditional full moon shapeshifting wolves we read about. Bella treated him like absolute crap and I wanted to smack her for it. I also found myself to be an avid fan of the wolfpack, I love werewolves.
Then Breaking Dawn ends with a big cliffhanger, and just one sentence, "Forever." Twilight was pretty good but some of the characters needed A LOT of work. Some of the editing done on the book was poorly done, but if you consider the word count for manuscripts, Meyer's went way over the guidelines.
